Maybe she’s productive — maybe she’s just trying her best.

So I get asked all. the. time. how I get so much done.

It’s no surprise. I’m a mom, an entrepreneur, writing a book, and generally a half dozen other things at any given time.

The short answer is I have my kids half-time. The longer answer is in a quest for the perfect planner.

I’ve been an avid listmaker and journal filler since I was 8, thanks to lots of time alone with lots of books.

When I first came online and started blogging at 22, it was all because I’d been searching for a productivity system.

I started with David Allen, which was great since I was still in college dealing with stacks of paper, but it didn’t feel quite right to me. I hadn’t seen or touched anything remotely corporate yet, and it just felt like a LOT of rules.

That was when I discovered Zen Habits. Leo’s pared down productivity system had a focus on minimalism, something that very much jived with. The idea was you simplified your life by having less stuff, and as an environmental economics major, this packed massive appeal.
